Ricardo Trujillo, CPA, CITP has worked in auditing and accounting since 2000. Mr. Trujillo has proven expertise in audits, reviews and compilations, management advisory services and tax preparation for corporations, partnerships, employee benefit plans and individuals. Mr. Trujillo also leads the firm’s information technology audit initiative and devotes a significant portion of his time toward helping for-profit and nonprofit organizations bridge the gap between business and technology by carefully analyzing IT infrastructures and providing recommendations where needed. Mr. Trujillo also frequently presents to the nonprofit community on cybersecurity-related topics. At Gelman, Rosenberg & Freedman CPAs, Mr. Trujillo concentrates his skills in the specialized field of audits of nonprofit organizations, US-based NGOs and information technology audits. He works with various foundations, trade and membership associations and other charitable institutions. As a senior manager, he assists and supervises the overall planning and administration of audit, review and compilation engagements, and performs and reviews staff fieldwork on major audits, including compliance with Title 2 U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 200, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (Uniform Guidance) and/or OMB Circular A-133. He also manages the preparation and review of financial statements. His responsibilities include interaction with client staff and management to ensure the efficient completion of fieldwork and report preparation. Mr. Trujillo received his Bachelor of Science degree, with a dual major in accounting and computer science and a minor in business administration, from Frostburg State University. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Information Technology Professional. He has also completed the examination which, in conjunction with meeting other requirements, will earn him the designation of Certified Information Systems Auditor. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Greater Washington Society of CPAs (GWSCPA), the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), the AICPA’s Information Management and Technology Assurance Section (IMTA), the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and the Maryland Association of CPAs (MACPA). Mr. Trujillo is fluent in Spanish and continues to expand his professional development through continuing education and hands-on experience.
