Laurie is a Partner and practice leader in the Greater Washington, DC office of BDO USA, LLP with more than 25 years of experience in all phases of client service and accounting practices. She dedicates her time and extensive experience to auditing not-for-profit organizations in all subsegments, including colleges and universities, public charities, trade associations, social services organizations, and private foundations. She is a National Nonprofit & Education Practice co-Leader helping to shape the strategic direction of the industry group for the firm. She is a regular contributor to the industry group’s blog and quarterly newsletter, BDO Nonprofit Standard, as well as other industry publications. She is a regular speaker at internal and external seminars on topics including accounting practices and internal controls of nonprofit organizations, governance issues, single and compliance audits and inclusion programs. She is a guest speaker for organizations such as the AICPA and the Greater Washington Society of CPAs and has served on numerous boards of directors, including a local college and currently serves as a financial expert for the audit committee of a national charity. Laurie was awarded one of the 2013 Women to Watch Awards by the Greater Washington Society of CPAs for her contributions supporting women in the profession. She is a member of the national strategy team of BDO’s Inclusion - Women program and the Greater Washington Society of CPA's Women's Initiative Planning Committee.
